Syren

Syren is an AI video creation tool in Synthesia. An AI agent writes and renders your video as you watch, so you don't build each scene by hand. Use Syren for launch videos, explainers, product how-tos, and marketing content.

Capabilities

Create a video

Select Syren under Tools in the navigation menu to open Syren. Videos can be up to 3 minutes long.

1. Choose how to start:
   • Choose a shape from the aspect ratio dropdown in the prompt box: Wide 16:9 (default) or Tall 9:16.
   • Or select the Quick start or Explore tab, and then select an example video. You can't choose a shape when you use an example video.
2. Describe the video in the prompt box. Include details such as audience, tone, visual style, narration, and music.
3. (Optional) Select + to add documents, images, videos, PowerPoint files, or YouTube links.
4. Select Send.

Syren can ask follow-up questions, such as who the video is for, and offers answer options.

Preview and refine

Syren shows a live preview while it builds your video. The Chat panel shows each stage of the build, and the script panel lists the narration as Syren writes it. Select Stop to stop Syren while it works.

In the chat, ask Syren to:

• Change the script
• Swap the avatar or voice
• Restyle a scene
• Fix the music, shot types, aspect ratio, or pronunciation

Syren sends the playhead position and your selected element with each chat message. Drag the playhead to a moment, or select an element, to show Syren what you mean.

Edit elements directly

Direct edits apply at once and don't wait for Syren.

1. Select an element on the picture, such as a heading, an image, or a shape.
2. Drag the element to move it, or select the text again to retype it.
3. (Optional) Select the sparkle icon on the selected element, and then enter an instruction, such as "make this bigger" or "fade this in at 2s". The instruction applies to that element.

Undo and redo reverse every change, yours and Syren's. On a Mac, press ⌘ • z to undo.

Generate and share

Select Generate to choose a resolution.

To share a video:

1. Select Share.
2. Select Publish.
3. Choose who can watch:
   • Anyone with the link
   • Require SSO to watch
   • Protect with password
   • Request email

You must publish before you can choose who can watch.

Use Syren in Claude

Use the Synthesia connector to create and edit Syren videos in a Claude conversation. The Syren player appears in the conversation, and you refine the video by chatting until you're happy with it. When the video is ready, you can export the full-quality file.

1. In Claude, go to Settings, select Connectors, and then select Synthesia. Sign in if asked.
2. Under Tool permissions, make sure the Syren tools aren't set to Blocked.
3. Start a new chat, and then turn on Synthesia from the + menu.
4. Ask for a video, such as "Turn this Notion page into a 60-second explainer with Syren."

Content comes from the conversation and your other connectors, so you can use Slack threads, Notion pages, and Drive documents as source material. Syren videos created in Claude use credits, the same as in Syren.
