Chapters

With Chapters, you can provide an easier way for your viewers to understand and navigate your videos, improving their viewing experience (and your engagement metrics).

The Chapters feature allows your viewers to effortlessly navigate through content, providing a more structured and engaging viewing experience. By breaking down videos into clearly defined sections, they'll be able to quickly find and jump to specific parts of the content, making your content more navigable, accessible, and user-friendly.

This feature is especially valuable for lengthy videos, educational content, tutorials, and any other material where segmented content enhances the viewer's experience.

Creating chapters

You can group scenes into chapters using the chapters panel. This panel can be accessed via Edit chapters option in the video settings menu, or via the Edit option in chapters section of the generate panel.

Manual chapter creation

  1. Open the chapters panel to see a list of the video's scenes.

  2. Give each chapter a name.

    1. These names will appear in the timeline of your video in the video player once you generate it.
    2. If all of the name fields for the scenes are left blank, chapters won't be displayed in the video player at all.
    3. If some of the name fields for the scenes are left blank, a default name will be assigned to those scenes (e.g. "Chapter 5" for the 5th scene of the video, if the chapter name for that scene is left blank)
  3. Nest one or more scenes under a scene with a chapter title to indicate that they're a part of that scene's chapter by clicking the Add to previous chapter (↪️ arrow) button to the left of the scene.

  4. To un-nest a scene, click the Make chapter (⬅️ arrow) button to the left of the scene. The scene will return to its default state (it will have its own chapter).

  5. Once you're satisfied, click the Confirm button to save your changes.

Generate chapters with AI

  1. Open the chapters panel to see a list of the video's scenes.

  2. Click on Generate chapters button in the panel. This will trigger AI chapter creation (which'll take just a few seconds).

  3. Edit the AI-generated chapters if necessary.

    1. Nest one or more scenes under a scene with a chapter title to indicate that they're a part of that scene's chapter by clicking the Add to previous chapter (↪️ arrow) button to the left of the scene.
    2. To un-nest a scene, click the Make chapter (⬅️ arrow) button to the left of the scene. The scene will return to its default state (it will have its own chapter).
    3. If some of the name fields for the scenes are left blank, a default name will be assigned to those scenes
(e.g. "Chapter 5" for the 5th scene of the video, if the chapter name for that scene is left blank)
    4. You can click the Generate chapters button again to get a different result.
  4. Once you're satisfied, click the Confirm button to save your changes.

Chapters in the video player

When a video is generated with chapters enabled, the chapters will be visible in the player timeline:

  • The timeline will be divided into segments that correspond to each of the video's chapters.
  • The chapter's name will be shown when the viewer hovers over a timeline segment.

Video frame preview thumbnails

When your viewer hovers over the video player's timeline, they'll be able to see a video frame preview above the timeline. These preview thumbnails are visible whether or not you've set up chapters for your video.
