Chapters

With Chapters, you can provide an easier way for your viewers to understand and navigate your videos, improving their viewing experience (and your engagement metrics).

Chapters let viewers navigate your video by breaking it into named sections. Use chapters to make long-form, educational, or tutorial content easier to scan and explore.

Creating chapters

Open the chapters panel using the Edit chapters option in the video actions menu, or the Edit option in the Chapters section of the generate panel.

Manual chapter creation

  1. Give each chapter a name. These names appear in the video player timeline after you generate the video.
    1. If all name fields are left blank, chapters are not shown in the video player.
    2. If some name fields are left blank, a default name is assigned to those scenes (for example, "Chapter 5").
  2. To nest scenes under a chapter, click the Add to previous chapter (↪️) button next to the scene.
  3. To un-nest a scene, click the Make chapter (⬅️) button. The scene returns to its own chapter.
  4. Click Confirm to save your changes.

Generate chapters with AI

  1. Click Generate chapters. AI will suggest chapter names within a few seconds.
  2. Review and adjust the suggestions if needed:
    • Nest scenes using the Add to previous chapter (↪️) button.
    • Un-nest scenes using the Make chapter (⬅️) button.
    • Click Generate chapters again to get different suggestions or write your own chapter names.
  3. Click Confirm to save your changes.

Chapters in the video player

When a video is generated with chapters enabled, the chapters will be visible in the player timeline:

  • The timeline is divided into segments that match each chapter.
  • Chapter names appear when the viewer hovers over a timeline segment.

Video frame preview thumbnails

When a viewer hovers over the player timeline, a video frame preview appears above it.

Preview thumbnails are available whether or not you have set up chapters.
