ChatGPT

Create Synthesia videos from a conversation in ChatGPT.

Use this integration if you already work in ChatGPT and want to turn an idea, a script, or a document into a video without switching apps. Synthesia connects to ChatGPT through Synthesia MCP, so you can pull in content from your other ChatGPT apps, such as Slack, Notion, or Google Drive, and turn it into a video in the same chat.

What you can do

  • Create a video draft: Ask ChatGPT to turn an idea or script into a Synthesia video draft built from your workspace's templates and avatars. Open the draft in the Synthesia editor to refine it, then ask ChatGPT to generate the final video.
  • Create and edit a Syren video: Include "use Syren" in your prompt. The Syren player appears in the chat, and you refine the video by describing the changes you want. You can also attach an image, deck, PDF, document, or video for Syren to build from. See Use Syren in ChatGPT and Claude.
  • Search your video library: Find videos you already have access to in Synthesia without leaving ChatGPT.

Connect Synthesia to ChatGPT

Synthesia is listed in the ChatGPT plugin marketplace, so you don't need Developer Mode.

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins in the sidebar (or Settings → Apps, depending on your account).
  2. Search for Synthesia and select +, Install plugin, or Connect.
  3. Sign in to your Synthesia account and select Allow access.
  4. Start a new chat, tag Synthesia in the message box, and ask for a video.

On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspaces, admins control whether Synthesia is available. If Synthesia doesn't appear or shows Disabled by admin, ask your workspace admin to enable it.

For more detail, see the ChatGPT connector guide. Check the prerequisites before you start.

For the full list of tools, permissions, and limits, see Synthesia MCP.
