Note:
Variables allow you to use Synthesia's API to control the content of your videos. See the Guide: Create a video from template page to discover how to leverage this feature.

Space
Note:
Spaces can only be added to avatars that do not have a background.
Spaces are animated environments where your avatar is seamlessly placed to look like it’s part of a real camera shot. Spaces include a depth-of-field effect, making the scene even more realistic.
Click Add space
to set either an environment, solid color, or gradient as the avatar's environment.

Spaces can be set for any of the avatar framings selected in the Appearance section of the inspector panel. No matter which type of space or avatar framing you select, you'll be able to adjust the opacity.
When the appearance is set to either box or fullscreen, you can adjust the border radius of the avatar's bounding box.
Hiding an avatar
To hide your avatar but keep using its voice to deliver lines in the script, click on the speaker pill in the script box, then click on the little eye icon to toggle its visibility. You can toggle the visibility back on to restore the avatar to the canvas from the speaker pill.

Hiding an avatar in a scene
Alternatively, you can select the avatar and delete it from the canvas. The avatar will remain as the speaker for its lines in the script. If there are two or more avatars in the scene, the lines will not automatically be given to the remaining visible avatars in the scene when you delete an avatar from the canvas.
Exporting avatars
Avatars are designed for use within Synthesia projects and cannot be exported with a transparent background.
